AZ opt-in slots for those below 60-years-old to open tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Slots for the second round of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in programme will be open for bookings for people below 60-years-old starting noon tomorrow.

Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) Khairy Jamaluddin said the slots will be available for booking for those residing in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor as well as Kuching and Miri in Sarawak.

“Priority, however, will still be given to senior citizens (above 60-years-old) from today until tomorrow morning,” said Khairy during the weekly press conference by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) today.

Also present was Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

It was previously reported that slots for the second round of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in programme will be open for bookings from May 23 until May 26 for senior citizens above 60 first.

Khairy, who is also the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister (Mosti), said to date 228,347 slots for the second round of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in programme have been booked.

“Individuals in the waiting list during the first round of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in programme will be included automatically in the second round of the programme,” he said.

The second round of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in programme, said Khairy, will involve four new vaccination centres (PPV) namely in Bayan Lepas, Penang; Persada Johor International Convention Centre in Johor Baru, Johor; as well as Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching and National Youth Skills Institute in Miri, which are both located in Sarawak. – NST
